One year later, Kirumira’s secret lies with his father and Museveni still wont meet him

On September 8, 2018, unknown assailants trailed and shot to death former Buyende District Police Commander Muhammad Kirumira together with a female friend, Resty Nalinya Mbabazi, near his home in Bulenga along Mityana road.

Kirumira who was reportedly returning from a party at Resort Park was intercepted by assailants riding on a motorcycle, his car splashed with several bullets. Residents tried to rush the two people to the hospital, but could not sustain the project as Kirumira and his colleague died of bullet wounds.

Kirumira’s black Toyota Corona registration number UAJ 228V had its rare windows and the front glass shattered, tyres deflated and body riddled with bullets holes, symbolic of the grudge is assailants held against him.

The maverick officer was outspoken and on several occasions said specific people wanted him dead. This was after he fell out with specific senior people in the police force.

“Unknown people are trailing me from one place to another, with no clear motive. I am trying to fix a solution. Inform one another. I have now connected dots on this surveillance on my movements, these are associates of some officers facing various charges in a military court and possibly some friends of Kitatta camp.”

Kirumira and never meeting Museveni

Before Kirumira’s death, he had cried out to President Museveni for a meeting. Kirumira claimed he had very highly classified information that would be on benefit to President Museveni. Alas, the president and Kirumira only came close to meeting when the former visited the latter's death scene.

At the scene, Museveni was confronted by the fact that he shunned Kirimura, indeed one of the men from a distance heckled:

“Mzee, Kirumira told you that they wanted to kill him, but you didn’t listen to him. His father also approached you about the same but you chose to go quiet on it. Can you tell us who our president is, if you can’t settle all these killings in a country you are leading?”

Kirumira was the second person to cry out for a Museveni meeting, only for it not to happen. Col Ibrahim Abiriga, the Arua Municipality Legislator had tirelessly sought Museveni’s audience until a time when he suffered heartbreak and poured it all out to NBS TV in an interview.

Abiriga said that certain people were stopping him from meeting the president and that Museveni would not even pick his calls any longer. Abiriga, just like Kirumira summoned President Museveni to them only in death.

Another cry to meet Museveni comes through Kirumira’s father

One year after his death, Kirumira’s calls for meeting President Museveni have resurfaced in his father, Abubaker Kawooya, who claims he has cried for the meeting with the president so he relays Kirumira’s secret to him.

“I pray the president keeps the promise of meeting him. He promised we will meet and I pray this happens. I want to express my self to him and tell him what my son asked me to tell him. Kirumira told me I should keep this secret until I am face to face with the President, but the meeting is not happening,” Kawooya lamented.

Will Kirumira’s secret ever get delivered to the president? Or will it forever remain a hereditary burden of his family?
