Police mount search as Besigye goes AWOL in West

Police officers attached to the Rwenzori regional police have mounted a search for Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party strongman, Dr. Kizza Besigye who has reportedly disappeared from them and sneaked into a ‘no go area”.

Besigye, according to his handlers was supposed to be in Bundibugyo District where he would launch the People’s Government regional assembly for Rwenzori, which police were not willing to allow happen.

However, the police might have arrived a little too late when the roadblocks they deployed at Katunguru on the Kasese-Rubirizi border failed to net Besigye but the members of his entourage who include; Ingrid Turinawe and FDC party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat.

Police thus mounted a thorough search, ransacking cars and ordering motorists and passengers out one by one in the hope they would chance on Besigye.

“Traffic on the busy road including tourists are blocked as Police checks all vehicles looking for Besigye, meanwhile, Amuriat and Ingrid remained detained at the roadblock,” his handlers said.

According to reports, Besigye is already in Bundibugyo going about with his business. This is not the first time the presidential contender is cutting loose from the Police grip.
