Kyetume FC offload 20 players ahead of maiden UPL show

New Uganda Premier League entrants, Kyetume Football Club from Mukono have announced a total of 20 players who have left the team’s ranks.

Kyetume FC, nicknamed the Slaughters gained promotion to the top-flight league for the first time in their history.

According to an official statement from the team, a number of players have either been released, their contract not renewed or sold to other teams.

The list released indicated that among the players considered surplus baggage to the club include veteran midfielder Owen Kasule whose contract expired, Emmanuel Kalyoowa and goalkeeper Ismael Zziwa.

Other players include Godfrey Buni(contract expired),  Vincent Owundo (released), Emmanuel Obitre(contract expired), Mark Bamukyaye(released) Paul Opedun (released), Faisam Luhachimba (released), Musa Magulu(released), Kenneth Kibirango(released) and  Mike Kagimu(released).

The new StarTimes Uganda Premier League entrants have also shown the exit to Shaka Ssozi(released), Ramathan Tamale(released), Philip Ssempiira(released), David Oyedola Seyi(loaned), Alex Kisejja(released),Peter Ssempagama(released), John Lutayizibwe(released) and Arafat Kakonge who was sold to Wakiso Giants for an undisclosed fee.

Recruits

The new Uganda Premier League entrants and debutants have also continued to bolster their squad by making a number of signings in a bid to brace for the new season.

Kyetume recently announced the signing of former KCCA FC player and coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe as their new tactician to replace Jackson Mayanja who guided them to promotion in the top-flight league.

The Slaughters have also signed former KCCA FC midfielder, Isaac Kirabira on a two year deal and goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa from Tooro United after signing for two years.

Kyetume will host their games from Namboole stadium due to the ongoing works on their Nakisunga stadium in Mukono district.
