UPL: Muhammad Shaban returns to Vipers

Former Onduparaka and KCCA FC striker Muhammad Shaban has returned to boyhood club and Kitende based Sports Club Vipers.

Shaban played for St.Mary’s College Kitende and the junior side for Vipers before joining home club Onduparaka FC from where he joined 13-time league champions KCCA FC.

He recently left Raja Cassablanca under unclear circumstances, a club he joined a year ago and signed a three-year contract.

On Wednesday, the 21-year-old forward was unveiled at Vipers after signing a three-year contract with the 2017 Uganda Premier League champions.

“I am thrilled to be joining Vipers SC. I’m looking forward to playing in the Uganda Premier League again. I’m keen to get started and make my contribution to the team’s efforts to win more trophies,” Shaban was quoted by the Vipers website.

The new Venoms coach, Edward Golola was also full of praise for the youngster who netted 18 goals for KCCA in the 2017 / 2018 season before leaving for North Africa.

“Shaban is a very talented and good player. Our season last year showed us that we need options and quality to add depth to the squad upfront and Shaban is a proven marksman. I’m delighted that he accepted to join us,” Golola said.

Muhammad Shaban joins a host of other players including Paul Willa(Police), Rashid Toha(Onduparaka), Siraje Ssentamu(URA FC), Allan Kayiwa(Tooro United) and  Henry Kitegenyi(Kansai Plascon) who have joined the Venoms in preparation for the new season.
