Who is who in Bobi Wine’s new mobilization team?

Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi is also known as Bobi on Wednesday announced a team that will help in carrying out mobilization for People Power.

The team comprising of 140 people will help spearhead mobilization for the group that seeks to take power in the forthcoming 2021 general elections.

The Nile Post looks at some of the faces that will be in charge of mobilization for Bobi Wine’s group.

Winnie Kiiza

The Kasese Woman MP is the immediate past leader of opposition in parliament who has been mandated of leading mobilization in Rwenzori region.

The Forum for Democratic Change member has not been in good terms with the biggest opposition party following the election of Patrick Amuriat as president and the same was further jeopardized with her replacement as Leader of Opposition in Parliament.

Despite being close to Maj.Gen. Mugisha Muntu’s Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Kiiza has also been close to Bobi Wine since his election as Kyadondo East MP.

During his trials and tribulations following the Arua municipality by-election fracas, Kiiza never abandoned Bobi Wine.

Other people like fellow legislator from Kasese will be under her as the team leader for mobilization in greater Rwenzori region for People Power.

Kassiano Wadri

The outspoken Arua Municipality legislator has been a close ally to Kyagulanyi since the by-election which saw him voted to parliament.

The relationship between the two saw them suffer trials and tribulations caused by the Arua municipality by-election fracas in which they were arrested and detained for allegedly stoning the presidential convoy on the eve of the polls.

Wadri will be in charge of mobilization for the West Nile region and will be the team leader for other mobilizers like James Acidri and Onguzu Lee who are fellow legislators.

Asuman Basaalirwa

The Bugiri Municipality, MP is a close friend to the People Power leader that he owes part of his political success to him.

During the Bugiri Municipality election, that Basaalirwa won, Bobi Wine contributed greatly through campaigning for him.

In turn, Basaalirwa has also been there for Bobi Wine in his trials and tribulations right from the Arua municipality fracas as the lead counsel for Kyadondo East legislator.

Basaalirwa will now head the mobilization team for Bobi Wine’s People Power pressure group in Busoga region.

Gaffa Mbwatekamwa

The Kasambya County legislator is one of the most controversial NRM legislators. Always clad in a yellow NRM shirt, Mbwatekamwa similarly puts on a red People Power beret.

The vocal legislator has been close to Bobi Wine since the latter’s election to parliament.

The close ties saw Mbwa as he is commonly referred to stand surety for Bobi Wine as he was being granted bail by the Buganda road magistrate’s court after arrest for his social media protest.

He has been entrusted with heading mobilization in Ankole region for People Power pressure group.

Lutamaguzi Ssemakula

The vocal Democratic Party Member of Parliament for Nakaseke South County has been appointed to head the mobilization team in the greater Luweero region.

He has also been a close ally to Bobi Wine since his election to parliament.

Francis Zaake

The youthful Mityana Municipality legislator has been in thick and thin with Bobi Wine right from the Arua Municipality fracas and they have never let each other.

On several occasions, both legislators have been arrested and spent several days in the coolers together.

It is therefore not a surprise that he has been appointed to head the youth wing in charge of mobilization.

Nubian Lee

The singer I among those who have been on Bobi Wine’s side for the longest time now having been brought together by their music careers.

Since then, they have never separated.

It is not surprising that Nubian, as he is commonly referred to was arrested shortly as he went to the airport to receive Bobi Wine on his return from the US where he had gone to receive specialized treatment after the Arua municipality by-election fracas.

The singer has now been tasked with heading mobilization among fellow musicians and those in the arts and entertainment industry.

Muwanga Kivumbi

The Democratic Party MP representing Butambala is also a close ally to Bobi Wine and has defended him wherever he has been.

Early this year, Kivumbi blasted police for Bobi Wine’s arrest in Busaabala.

He has been appointed to head the mobilization team in charge of greater Mpigi region where he will work with former RCC, Aisha Kabanda and singer Hilary Kiyaga also known as Hilder Man.

NRM REACTS

The ruling party, National Resistance Movement (NRM) has reacted to the People Power coordination team.

According to the NRM Spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa, all party members who have been selected on the coordination team of People Power will be replaced.

He said that they will not mourn or celebrate their departure because they have always gone against the party's position.

"I would like to assure the nation that the search to replace them (departed MPs) has started. 2021 is not very far, if someone decides to walk away, good news. They are equally other good people waiting to replace them. We shall not leave any elective position without a candidate of NRM," Mulindwa said.
