People Power pressure group vow to amplify Facebook Live videos to upset NRM regime

Members subscribing to the People Power pressure group have vowed to use the trendy social media live videos to mobilise, educate and inculcate ideologies in citizens as a way to upset the NRM regime to its downfall.

These made the vow while eulogising, deceased Facebook live personality and staunch people power supporter, Golooba Ssuna Batumidawo, who died in a motor accident in South Africa on Monday.

During a vigil at Kamwokya yesterday, the group claimed Golooba, who has been a contributor and administrator of Ekyooto live, the Facebook page for Ekyooto, an online platform for a section of Ugandans based in South Africa, should be given a befitting memory by engaging in what he loved most.

Mukiibi America Badru, a friend to the deceased said that Golooba wanted live updates, he wanted a new Uganda and believed in Bobi Wine as the next president

“I asked him, everything has been plundered in the nation, what do we do? He said we should all should join politics; we should all join the struggle. If you want something you have never had, you must do what you have not done before,” Mukiibi said.

Another people power activist who prefers only to be identified as Saudah, said the deceased was an ardent lover of Facebook live updates, and he pulled all the strings for people power live updates.

“Even on a day before his death, he had asked that we go to Kirudu and do a live Facebook video about the plight of a people power supporter there. He wanted everyone around the world informed and enlightened through live videos,’ she said.

People Power founder, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine urged supporters to follow Golooba’s example by using what is available to them to make a difference. He specifically cited social media, which he said will be the downfall of Museveni’s regime.

‘Social media is a big big blessing. It gives us the opportunity to make headlines, to uplift spirits and spread knowledge. Museveni knows the power of social media that is why he is fighting it. Don’t be surprised when he increases the OTT to Shs 5,000 daily,” Bobi Wine said.

Golooba will be buried at Botera, in Bukunda village, Kalisizo. He is survived by two widows and two children; Jjunju Elvis Ssuna, 8, and Alisha Nassuna, 5.
