French firm speaks out on BoU saga

Oberthur Fiduciaire a French money printing firm whose name has been mentioned in the ongoing currency saga at Bank of Uganda has denied any role in what is going on.
According to media reports, the firm says they are not aware of the extra pallets that were found on the plane which was carrying money printed on behalf of Bank of Uganda.
The firm's lawyers, Allen and Overy LLP instead blamed the transporting plane for having carried unauthorised luggage and did not notify them in time
The CEO Business Magazine in a news report said the firm had assured that it had printed the exact amount as ordered by bank of Uganda.
The amount was not disclosed.
Last week, the State Anti Corruption Unit stormed the central bank and arrested some officials over suspicion that they could have smuggled extra cargo on the plane on which the money was loaded.
The nature of the cargo was not specified but reports said it was extra currency that was printed without the authorisation of the central bank.
Government has however denied that the investigations are about extra money.
