Parliament screens NBS' Stealing from the Sick

Members of Parliament on  Wednesday watched an investigative piece in which NBS highlighted the manner in which drugs are stolen from government facilities .

Titled; "Stealing from the sick", the 53 minute story shows the plight of patients at the hands of government officials who sell drugs meant to be given out free of charge to Ugandan citizens leaving them suffering.

On Wednesday, for the first time in the history of the Ugandan parliament, a news story was screened on the floor of the August House before being debated by legislators.

In the past, stories have been screened by committees of Parliament but none had managed to come up for the same on the floor of the August House.

A  number of people since the story aired praised efforts by both Next Media Services and BBC in exposing the rot in the health sector which has left many Ugandans suffering. .
