Five armed robbers have this afternoon attacked Cheap General Hardware in Nansana and killed two people on the spot and took off with unspecified amount of money.

While some witness account put the money at Shs 200 million, a police statement said they had not verified the amount of money stolen.

The police identified the dead as Aruho Frank and Atikuru Jimmy, both employees of the hardware shop.

According to an eye witness who talked to Nile Post, the robbers arrived on motorbikes and shot the manager on spot before going ahead to shoot randomly and killed one other civilian on the spot leaving several others with life threatening injuries.

"I was having lunch in a near by restaurant when the five armed robbers on motor bikes arrived in broad day light and attempted to rob the store (Cheap General Hardware). The store's manager was shot on the spot. They proceeded to randomly shot at whoever was nearby to cause chaos and confusion. So far three people have been confirmed dead and several injured," eye witness told this website.

The Nile Post has learnt that the robbers later escaped on their bikes with the money and none of them was captured.

Locals say that Police responded almost after an hour despite the Nansana Police Post being about forty metres away from the scene.

The police said their investigators are on the ground and are pursuing the robbers.
