Uganda moves to save citizens serving maximum sentences in China
Uganda and China are set to sign a memorandum of understanding for exchange and trial of citizens serving maximum sentences in prison.
The revelations were made by Uganda' ambassador to China Doctor Crispus Kiyonga.

Kiyonga said that over 100 Ugandans have been jailed in prison with others serving death sentences as a result of smuggling and engaging in criminal gangs.
He said that most Ugandans have been in prison without trail but the memorandum to be signed soon will create a favourable environment for the suspects in terms of social and economical environment for their families.
"It is cheaper socially and economically to the prisoners to serve their sentences to their respective countries as this gives them a chance to see their relatives other than serving your sentence in a foreign country".
Kiyonga said that the type of imprisoning and trying of Ugandan suspects in China has been unfair as Ugandans are never represented and heard during trial.
He said that a draft agreement between the two countries has been forwarded to the government of China for approval.
"The attorney general has already sent a draft agreement between the two countries and very soon the memorandum will be signed to ease this kind of trying suspects"
