Justice Bart Katureebe flown to South Africa for specialised eye treatment

The Chief Justice of, Bart Katureebe has been flown out of the country for special eye treatment .
Katureebe flew out of the country on Monday to South Africa for cataract surgery, which involves removing the cloudy lens and replaced with the clear artificial lens which is generally an outpatient procedure. He was accompanied by his wife Bernadette Katureebe.

Cataracts are cloudy, misty patches that occur in the lens of the eye and blur vision. They are the most common cause of poor vision and can even cause blindness in severer cases.
Some of the diseases that are linked with the development of cataracts include Glaucoma and diabetes.
Justice Katureebe is expected to come back in May 17th, 2019 if the eye operation goes well.
In March 2019, Justice Katureebe went abroad and spent about three weeks in South Africa for another operation on his left arm.
Due to problems linked to his eyes, Katureebe couldn’t also read his verdict in the recently concluded age-limit appeal at the Supreme Court . He delegated Justice Eldad Mwanguhya to read it on his behalf.
