"There are some rotten apples in my office," says IGG
The Inspector General of Government, Irene Mulyagonja, yesterday told journalists that her office may have people of questionable integrity.
Mulyagonja was speaking on the sidelines of the the launch of Uganda's Assessment Report on the Implementation of the JLOS Anti-Corruption Strategy at Hotel Africana.

The report was compiled by Legal Aid and Service Providers Network (LASPNET).
She was responding to queries about an impending investigation of her office by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.
"You know that in the past some of our officers have been investigated over corruption. I can't say all people [at the IG] are clean. So we welcome any investigation into our operations," Mulyagonja said.
Last week, a section of staff at the Inspectorate of Government petitioned the State House Anti-Corruption Unit alleging that there was gross abuse of office by some senior officials at the inspectorate.

"Members of the staff now want the agency to be investigated over possible corruption and fraud of public resources including forcing an overhaul of the management. The Inspectorate of Government requires a new leadership as soon as possible; in any case, it should have happened yesterday," they noted in their petition.
At the report launch, the IGG said the delivery of services if marred by corruption affects fairness in the courts of law.
"All institutions should have internal strategies to root out corruption before fighting it in other institutions," she said.
