Mbarara City suspends Ali Kimera after two 'blunders' against SC Villa

Mbarara City Football Club has suspended their goalkeeper, Ali Kimera for committing two mistakes that cost his team as they lost 2-1  to SC Villa in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League on Thursday night.

In the 33rd minute, when the game was still deadlocked, Kimera did the unthinkable when he gifted the ball to an unmarked Albert Mugisa off a back pass, only for the SC Villa midfielder to slot the ball in the Mbarara City goal.

Kimera was at it again in the 73rd minute when he spilled a low intensity cross only for Ronald Mangwali to score the hosts’ second and winning goal of the night at Namboole.

In a statement, Mbarara City said they are investigating the circumstances under which Kimera conceded the two goals.

“The chairman of Mbarara City FC has taken a decision to give goal keeper Ali Kimera an indefinite suspension pending the board’s decision as we settle the acrimony arising from today’s match against Sports Club Villa,” the statement read.

The club has also suspended the goalkeeping coach, Yusuf Ssenyonjo pending investigations into the circumstances.

The club says both the goalkeeper and his coach have been stopped from getting anywhere near the team’s premises , camp and training ground until the board has pronounced itself on the matter.

“We call upon all our fans to remain calm.”

Sources intimated to Nile Post that the club believes the goal keeper and the coach were "given something" to throw away the match.
