Shs 850 million irrigation project launched in Alebtong

The ministry of Water and Environment has launched a Shs 850 million irrigation project in Owameri village in Alebtong district, the project is to benefit over 400 locals in improving yields, increase cultivation seasons and train farmers on modern agriculture.

The commissioner for Water for Production, John Twinomujuni said government intends to establish an irrigation scheme in every village in Uganda before 2040.

The scheme in Alebtong which sits on 21 acres will boost farmers in the provision of agronomic services in Lango sub region.

Owameri irrigation scheme will serve over 400 local farmers in Lango sub- region with government pushing modernisation of agriculture in the region.
