Jeema's Basalirwa, ULS President condemn Kyaligonza conduct

JEEMA President Asuman Basalirwa has condemned the public outbursts that have seen Maj. General Mataayo Kyaligonza and Deputy Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutana dominate news headlines this week. Basalirwa has called upon the Uganda Law Society and civil society to act on the two high ranking officials since government is hesitant to act

Basalirwa also advises the land commission head Justice Catherine Bamugemereire to summon Rukutana to not only apologize but also shed light on the Mutungo land scandal that has been over taken by events.

JEEMA party head Asuman Basalirwa says the two are not exceptional cases and they need to be reprimanded.

According to Basalirwa, Maj Gen Kyaligonza who is also the Ugandan envoy to Burundi doesn’t enjoy diplomatic immunity while in Uganda and should be prosecuted.

Uganda Law Society president Simon Peter Kinobe agrees and says Major General Kyaligonza is not above the law and if they receive complaints from the affected, ULS is ready to prosecute him.
