Kasese: 2,131 LDUs passed out

The 309 UPDF infantry brigade in Hima barracks Hima town council in Kasese district yesterday passed out 2,131 Local Defense Unit personnel to re-enforce the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces.

The team of Local Defense Unit personnel which has undergone training for 16 weeks showed tactics of expertise in detonating bombs, shooting and martial arts combat fighting.

The LDU’s passed out yesterday were recruited from the districts of western Uganda and from Buikwe in central region.

Historically this is not the first group of LDU’s to have been trained in Uganda.

There was the Ashto group in Karamoja, Arrow boys in Teso sub-region AND Amuka in Lango.

Brigadier Jostus Besasira Hima training school started by thanking the trainees for showing determination during the course and urged them to value their lives bearing in mind HIV/AIDS.

John Mary Kaganda thanked all the parents for giving them their children and also asked for more when time allows adding that the trainees must be role models in order to fulfill the UPDF army obligations.

Kaganda later handed over the recruits who were waiting to be passed to the chief guest to pass them in case they are verified perfect adding that any time the same program comes on they would be ready to support.

Brigadier Muhanga Kayanga who represented the chief guest Maj. General Leopold Kyanda reminded the LDU graduates to replicate the president’s vision of promoting social-economic transformation of the nation.
