Illegal Entry: Two Kenyans still detained in Jinja

HAKIM KANYERE

Two Kenyan nationals who were arrested a week ago are still languishing in police cells at CPS Jinja.

The duo identified as Martin Munene 26 and Robinson Moshi 30 were arrested on Tuesday night last week by Police and the army at Ambercourt URA check point.

According to Police Spokesperson Kiira region, Diana Nandawula, Munene was found under the belly of the truck and upon interrogation, he said he came from Mombasa but didn't know that the truck was continuing up to Uganda.

Despite undergoing rigorous interviewing by detectives at CPS Jinja, the truck driver Robinson Moshi denied knowledge of the passenger who was found under his truck.

Nandawula confirmed that the two suspects are still in police at CPS Jinja pending legal advice by Jinja Resident State Attorney

"We forwarded the file to the resident state attorney for guidance but they are yet to get back to us so we still have them in custody" Nandawula revealed.

She said they will be charged with human trafficking and illegal entry into the country respectively.

Since the terror attack in Kenya at Dusit2 Complex, Uganda security agencies  have been on high alert and all trucks from Kenya into the country are thoroughly searched.
