A pioneer employee of the station, Mable has been part of NBS since its formative years, watching it evolve from a fledgling broadcaster into one of Uganda's leading multimedia platforms.
This week, she returned to the NBS Live at 9 desk alongside her longtime co-anchor, Solomon Serwanjja, as part of the station's week-long 18th anniversary celebrations that have welcomed back former presenters and journalists.
For Mable, the milestone carries deep personal significance.
"Being one of the pioneer employees, 18 years represents a legacy for me," she said.
"I remember our old slogan, NBS, Your True Source. Looking at where we are now, I believe it was never just a tagline. It was a vision of what NBS would become."
Reflecting on the newsroom's early years, she recalled the demanding coverage of Uganda's 2011 General Election, when reporters raced back from assignments carrying videotapes so editors could prepare stories in time for broadcast.
"I remember when we rushed back with tapes," she said. "Today, the speed, the technology, everything is different. Seeing that transformation has been incredible to watch."
Among the defining moments of her career at NBS was coverage of the papal visit to Uganda, one of the station's landmark national broadcasts, which showcased the newsroom's ability to deliver major live events.
Looking back, Mable said one of the station's greatest achievements has been its growth from a single television channel into a multimedia organisation that has nurtured generations of journalists and media professionals.
"That growth has created opportunities for so many talented people to build real careers. I don't think there's anything more valuable to an organisation than its people. They're the ones bringing the creativity and the storytelling every single day," she said.
Returning to the anchor's desk where she spent years presenting the news, Mable said she hopes the station's success continues for decades to come.
"I pray we return again after 20 or even 40 years and still be proud of what NBS has become. Congratulations on 18 years," she said.
Her return was one of several homecomings during NBS Television's anniversary celebrations, honouring the journalists, presenters and production teams whose work has helped shape the station's story over the past 18 years.
