URA FC sign West Nile Prince Rwothomio on a four-year deal

URA football club have signed Paidha Black Angels captain Cromwell Rwothomio on a four-year deal.

The midfielder who was by far the standout player for the Blacks in the first round has reportedly joined Sam Ssimbwa’s Taxmen for a fee of 14 million Uganda shillings.

This is the first major signing as Sam Ssimbwa looks to boost his attack that has only scored 11 goals this season.

Rwothomio is expected to be in contention for a starting place in Simbwa’s side as they host Vipers in their last game of the first round of the Startimes Uganda premier league this Friday at the Mandela National Stadium.

Meanwhile, the defending league champions Vipers have also made key changes to their squad.

The Venoms have loaned out midfielder Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye to join Express FC for the rest of the season.

Zaga is expected to contend for a place in Keefa Kisaala’s starting team at the Wankuluku based club, having struggled for playing time under Vipers former boss Javier Martinez Espinoza since he was promoted to the senior team last season.

Tumwesigye only managed two games under the Mexican coach and is yet to kick a ball with the current technical team headed by Micheal Nam Ouma.

The Kitende based side has also opted not to renew the contract of left back Aggrey Madoi after his contract expired.

Madoi joined Vipers from Fufa Big League outfit Jinja Municipal Council (JMC Hippos) in 2015/16 season, was loaned out to Police FC before returning to Kitende last August.

He has been linked with a move to Kenya’s Tusker FC.

The first round of the Startimes will fully climax this weekend with URA FC taking on Vipers on Friday at the Mandela National stadium before the Venoms host third placed Mbarara City a day later.
