Rtd Maj. Ronald Iduli, the defense lawyer of former MP Tony Kipoi, has threatened to drag Lt.Gen.Andrew Guti to the Uganda Law Society, over the manner and conduct of Guti towards civilian lawyers. This was after a bitter exchange in court when the chairman court-martial Lt. Gen. Andrew Guti called the lawyer hopeless.

Iduli notes that the conduct of Guti is unbecoming. Kipoi is to appear again in court for further hearing of his treason case on 11 February. Former director crime intelligence Col. Ndahura Atwoki and former commandant flying squad Hebert Muhangi will return to hear their bail application on the same day.

According to Rtd. Maj. Ronald Iduli, Lt. Gen. Andrew Guti the chairman Gen. Court martial has made it a habit of insulting civilian lawyers and his conduct must be looked into by ULS.

“I am going to the Uganda Law Society to file a complaint against the conduct of the chairman and the way he treats civilian lawyers. He abuses us, denies us chance to submit and this affects the flow of cases.”

Iduli becomes the second lawyer to exchange in court with Guti after lawyer to embattled former leader of Boda Boda 2010 Abdallah Kittata Jimmy Muyanja received his matching orders and never to return to he courtmartial for as long as Guti is still chairman.

Court looked on in shock, as lawyer Ronald Iduli and Lt.Gen.Andrew Guti engaged in a bitter exchange in court.

Despite pleas by Gen. Guti for the lawyer to come to his office to settle the difference, the layer declined on grounds that he was feared for his life.

Iduli said, “After abusing me like that in court and attacking me, when I go to his office he might beat me or do something terribe. I cant go to his office."

Iduli is representing former Bubulo west member of parliament Tony Kipoi Nsubuga and his co accused in their treason case. The case is returning on 11 feb for further hearing.

Col. Ndahura Atwooki was arrested on charges of interfering with a process of the law, while Muhangi was arrested and charged on two counts of kidnap and illegal repatriation of Rwandan refugees.
