The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, has pledged continued support for the completion of Nakaloke Centre Mosque in Mbale, donating 100 bags of cement and mobilising more than UGX 60 million during a special Juma prayer held at the construction site on Friday.

Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje made the pledge during a visit to the mosque project in Nakaloke Centre, where he was received by Muslim leaders and members of the local community led by District Qadhi Sheikh Isaa Ahmed Masaaba.

Upon arrival, the Mufti first visited the office of the Bugisu Region District Qadhi, where he signed the visitors’ book before proceeding to inspect the ongoing construction works at the mosque site.

Juma prayers were led by Sheikh Salman Farish, who used the occasion to urge Muslims to respect leaders at all levels of authority.

The Mufti later addressed worshippers, encouraging them to embrace charitable giving in the cause of Allah, regardless of the size of their contribution.

He also called on government to consider increasing Muslim representation in cabinet and other key leadership positions within national governance structures.

The visit brought together Hajji Karim Kaliisa, Managing Director of Salam TV and Salam Charity, who attended the prayers alongside the Mufti. Mubajje commended him for humanitarian work carried out through the two organisations.

Hajji Karim told worshippers that Salam TV and Salam Charity are focused on community mobilisation and socio-economic development initiatives, adding that sustainable progress depends on local ownership and collective effort.

“We can develop ourselves without depending on foreigners, as long as we believe in ourselves, work together, and act with purpose,” he said, adding that community participation is key to protecting and sustaining development projects.

The Nakaloke Centre Mosque project is reported to be nearing completion, with the Mufti assessing its progress and pledging continued support until its full completion.

Several Muslim and political leaders from Mbale District joined Sheikh Isaa Ahmed Masaaba in receiving the Mufti for the special prayers.
