One year after assuming leadership of the Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf, Kin Kariisa, Chief Executive of Next Media Group, has officially concluded his tenure as club president, closing a term marked by community projects, institutional growth, and expanded fellowship.
On June 5, 2026, Kariisa handed over leadership to Maria Odido, who now takes charge of the club for the 2026–2027 Rotary year.
Reflecting on his presidency, Kariisa expressed gratitude to club members, district leadership, and partners, noting that their collective support was central to the club’s achievements and outreach work over the past year.
Speaking to incoming president Maria Odido, he said she was inheriting a strong and cohesive membership base.
“Your work will be easier because the members of this club are supportive, cooperative, and committed to serving others. Together, they have made many of our achievements possible,” he remarked.
Kariisa’s presidency, which began on June 28, 2025, was defined by a series of community interventions, most notably the transformation of Kigo Prisons Primary School through investments in education infrastructure, sanitation, and environmental sustainability.
The club commissioned solar-powered sanitation facilities for boys and girls, established a library to support learning, donated supplies worth Shs50 million, and undertook tree-planting initiatives aimed at strengthening environmental conservation.
In the health sector, the Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf advanced maternal and child healthcare through the Tee for Mama Golf Fundraiser, which raised more than Shs100 million to support the equipping of the Mama Kariisa Maternity Ward at Rubaare Health Centre IV.
Under his leadership, the club also expanded its membership base, strengthened governance systems, introduced digital administration tools to improve accountability, and qualified for Rotary Global Grants for the first time in its history.
The club further extended its reach beyond Uganda through partnerships with Rotary clubs in Rwanda, deepening cross-border collaboration and fellowship.
It also emerged as one of Uganda’s top-performing Rotary clubs during the period, earning district recognition and contributing close to $200,000 to The Rotary Foundation, making it the highest-giving Rotary club in Uganda for the 2025–2026 Rotary year.
Kariisa acknowledged the role of media in amplifying Rotary’s visibility, highlighting partnerships with broadcasters such as NBS and AfroMobile in showcasing service-driven community stories.
He also thanked Christine and the wider Rotary fraternity for their guidance and support throughout his tenure.
The handover ceremony marked the close of a notable chapter for the Rotary Club of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf, defined by service above self, expanded impact, and strengthened institutional capacity.
As new leadership takes over, Kariisa said the club’s mission remains unchanged, emphasizing continuity in service and commitment to community transformation.
