New Village Leadership Installed in Musaale

New village leadership has been installed in Nazalesi Village, Musaale Parish in Kiwenda, Busukuma Sub-county, Kyaddondo, in a ceremony presided over by the Deputy Chief representing the Kabaka in the area, Lutaaya Shaban.

The installation saw Ssenoga Godfrey appointed as village head, with Nakiguli Jane Mukalazi named as his deputy, marking a formal transition in local leadership under the Buganda Kingdom administrative structure.

Lutaaya Shaban, addressing the gathering, emphasised the responsibility of Kingdom-appointed leaders to uphold the dignity and values of the Kabaka’s office, saying leadership must reflect service, discipline and integrity in their communities.

“A Kabaka chief must conduct himself in a way that reflects the dignity and image of the Kingdom,” he said.

He urged the new leadership to prioritise household welfare, strengthen community mobilisation, and actively support programmes initiated by the Kingdom aimed at improving livelihoods across Buganda’s administrative units.

“Kabaka programmes are meant to uplift the welfare of our people, and leaders must take part in them fully,” he added.

The deputy chief also called on local leaders to maintain proper records and submit regular reports on community activities, noting that documentation is essential for improving accountability and service delivery at village level. He further encouraged inclusive leadership, urging leaders to serve all residents without discrimination.

Lutaaya also reminded communities to remain vigilant against public health challenges, including HIV/AIDS, Ebola and other communicable diseases, underscoring the role of local leadership in awareness and prevention efforts.

The newly appointed village head, Ssenoga Godfrey, pledged to promote unity and cooperation among residents as he takes on his new responsibilities.

“I promise to unite all people through teamwork and cooperation,” Ssenoga said.

He also committed to strengthening participation in the Kabaka’s “Luwalo Lwaffe” initiative, which supports communal contributions within the Kingdom’s development framework.

Musaale Parish Chief Ssebakijje Robert said village leadership remains the foundation of the Buganda Kingdom’s administrative system and urged residents to respect and support Kingdom representatives in their duties.

Councillors Mukiibi David and Muwanga Edward pledged cooperation with the new leadership, saying they would work to extend Kingdom programmes and services to residents in the area.

The ceremony was attended by central government officials, religious leaders, local residents and children.
