IGG Rallies West Nile Citizens in Renewed Anti-Corruption Fight

The Inspectorate of Government has intensified its anti-corruption outreach in the West Nile Sub-region, mobilizing citizens to take an active role in promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity within their communities.

The renewed call was made during a public baraza held at Paidha Mayors Gardens, where Christine Lamwaka, Manager Advocacy and Capacity Building at the Inspectorate of Government, urged citizens to use their voices, platforms, and community spaces to speak out against corruption and support efforts aimed at strengthening good governance.

Leading the engagement team, Ms. Lamwaka reminded the public that the Constitution places a responsibility on every citizen to participate in the fight against corruption by identifying and reporting corrupt practices to the Inspectorate of Government.

“Citizens must become champions of transparency and accountability in their communities because silence only empowers corruption,” she said.

Ms. Lamwaka further cautioned communities against glorifying individuals involved in corruption, noting that celebrating corrupt persons only normalizes and fuels the vice in society.

As part of the outreach activities, the Inspectorate of Government also took the campaign to the airwaves through a talk show on Paidah FM on Tuesday.

The radio engagement was aimed at amplifying the mandate of the Inspectorate and educating the public on the dangers of corruption and its negative impact on national development and service delivery.

The anti-corruption outreach campaign will continue with further engagements planned in Nebbi and Packwach districts.

The activities are being coordinated by the Directorate of Research, Education and Advocacy with support from the Inspectorate of Government Arua Regional Office.

Through these engagements, the Inspectorate of Government seeks to strengthen civic vigilance and encourage citizens to boldly report corruption, demand accountability from leaders, and promote improved service delivery and good governance across communities.
