The Archbishop of the Advent Faith, Samuel Kajjoba, has praised Charles Peter Mayiga for what he described as outstanding service in preserving Buganda’s cultural values and traditions during his 13 years as Katikkiro of the Buganda Kingdom.

Speaking at Butikkiro in Mengo during a special gathering attended by several dignitaries who have worked closely with Mayiga over the years, Kajjoba commended the Katikkiro for promoting unity and inclusiveness among people of different cultures, religions and backgrounds.

“Katikkiro Mayiga has done everything possible to preserve the dignity of Buganda’s culture and traditions while promoting unity and non-discrimination among people regardless of their faith or background,” Kajjoba said.

The event attracted several prominent figures, including former Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi, and former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga, alongside religious leaders led by Metropolitan Jeronymos Muzeeyi.

Former Katikkiros of Buganda, including Joseph Mulwanyamuli Ssemwogerere, retired kingdom ministers and other dignitaries also attended.

Kajjoba also thanked Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II for entrusting Mayiga with the leadership of Buganda over the past 13 years.

“We thank Kabaka Mutebi for the confidence he placed in Charles Peter Mayiga to lead Buganda during these important years,” he noted.

He further applauded the various development programmes initiated under Mayiga’s leadership, particularly the “Ettofaali” fundraising campaign, which mobilised support for kingdom projects.

“The Ettofaali initiative became one of the most impactful programmes for the kingdom and united people towards a common cause,” Kajjoba added.

The Archbishop also praised Mayiga for promoting transparency and accountability in leadership, saying such values are increasingly important in Uganda’s governance landscape.

“His leadership has demonstrated openness, courage and commitment in restoring Buganda to greater heights,” he said.
