“We are happy because President Museveni has transformed our area through roads, electricity, education and other government programs that have improved people’s lives,” said Usein Ssekamatte, the LCIII Chairperson of Kassambya Sub-county.

Amid the excitement, other supporters explained that their participation in the celebrations was a show of loyalty and confidence in the President’s leadership.

“We could not remain at home on such a day. President Museveni has led this country with experience and stability and we came out to show him love and support,” said Gloria Tumusiime, one of the NRM supporters.

Some supporters were seen carrying and waving campaign posters from the 2025 election period as music played through the streets, creating a festive atmosphere across trading centres in the area.

Speaking during the celebrations, Salim Lutaaya, the NRM Administrator in Mubende District, said residents were optimistic about continued development under the ruling party.

“The people of Mubende believe in President Museveni because of the development projects and peace that the NRM government has maintained for many years,” Lutaaya said.

He added that the celebrations reflected strong grassroots support for the President following the recent elections.

Supporters also used the occasion to raise local concerns, calling on the government to prioritise land-related disputes that continue to affect families in the district.

“We request the President to help solve the persistent land disputes affecting many families in Mubende because land conflicts remain a big challenge in our communities,” one supporter said.

Local leaders echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging both the celebratory mood and the need to address community challenges.

Andrew Solomon Musiindi, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner in charge of Kassambya, said the people of Mubende had every reason to celebrate the President’s swearing-in.

“Mubende residents are proud to celebrate President Museveni because his leadership has brought visible progress and government programs that continue to benefit ordinary people,” Musiindi said.

According to NRM leaders, President Museveni secured 71 percent of the vote in Mubende District during the January 15, 2026 general elections, reflecting what they described as sustained political support for the ruling party in the region.

The celebrations in Mubende form part of wider activities across the country marking the President’s swearing-in and the beginning of his new term in office.
