The Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters and surrounding health units were a hive of activity on Thursday as the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Diaspora chapters marked General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 52nd birthday with a major charity outreach.

Held under the theme “Run for Charity, Run for Hope,” the celebrations combined humanitarian support for new mothers with an environmental conservation initiative at the 20 Gbad Brigade Headquarters in Kigungu.

The delegation, led by USA-PLU Chapter Chairman Mr. Ronnie Kananura and Diaspora Affairs Coordinator Mr. Steven Rutasharara, was received by the SFC Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. Paul Namawa.

While handing over essential maternity kits to mothers at SFC health units, Mr. Kananura said the diaspora community remains deeply connected to the vision of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

“We are here to show that distance is not a barrier to patriotism,” Kananura said. “As we celebrate Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 52nd birthday, we have chosen to honour his transformative leadership by giving back to the communities that nurtured us. This donation is a small token of our great hope for a healthy and vibrant Uganda.”

Mr. Rutasharara said the “Run for Hope” theme reflected the diaspora’s confidence in Uganda’s future and appreciation for Gen. Muhoozi’s leadership.

“We thank Gen. MK for being the lighthouse that guides our efforts back home,” Rutasharara said. “Our diaspora members are inspired by his dedication to service. By planting these 52 trees today — one for each year of his life — we are rooting our commitment to the peace and environmental stability he stands for.”

Brig. Gen. Namawa commended the delegation for its commitment and described the 52 trees planted at Kigungu as a lasting “living monument” in honour of Gen. Muhoozi’s birthday.

The day’s activities highlighted the growing collaboration between Ugandans in the diaspora and local security structures in promoting community development, environmental conservation, and national solidarity.
