CECAFA: Uganda starts preparations for Under 20 tournament

Uganda has started preparations for the under 20 CECAFA championships slated for 14th to 27th January in Gulu.

A team of 31 players started residential training at Njeru technical centre in jinja yesterday.

We have been told that Uganda will field the under 17 team for the championship as they intend to use this tournament as a preparation for the Under -17 AFCON finals slated for April In Tanzania.

Former under 20 and under -17 coaches Wasswa Bbosa and Peter Onen respectively were left out the new technical team named by the federation ahead of the finals.

Peter Onen responded to the decision by FUFA to side-line him after guiding the cubs to this historical qualification.

He said he had been treated shabbily.

The Ugandan team will spend two weeks in camp as they prepare for the finals with a yet to be named head coach who will be assisted by KCCA FC assistant Jackson Magera.
