Baby & Kids Expo 2026 to  Focus on Proactive Parenting

By | April 16, 2026

The Baby & Kids Expo East Africa 2026 is set to return with a strong call for parents to rethink how they approach childcare, urging families to prioritise preparation over reaction in raising children.

Scheduled for 16–17 May at the UMA Showgrounds in Lugogo, Kampala.

Organised by Kiara Events in partnership with several family-focused brands and organisations, this year’s expo is built around the theme “Care Before Crisis”, positioning proactive parenting as a critical tool in navigating the increasingly complex realities of modern family life.

Organisers say the expo is designed to challenge a common pattern among parents—responding to challenges only after they arise—by encouraging earlier engagement in areas such as health, nutrition, education, financial planning and child development.

“Too often, parents find themselves overwhelmed because they are reacting to situations they were never prepared for,” said Joweria Nabuuma, Founder of the Baby & Kids Expo.

“This platform is about equipping families with the knowledge and support they need before challenges become crises.”

The Expo has, over the years, evolved into a regional platform bringing together parents, caregivers, educators, health professionals and businesses focused on early childhood development.

This year’s edition will feature a mix of educational and interactive programming aimed at making information more accessible and actionable.

On the learning side, sessions will focus on practical parenting areas including newborn care, nutrition, first aid and children’s mental health—topics organisers say are often addressed too late.

Complementing this will be interactive learning activities such as spelling bees, robotics showcases and STEM engagements designed to nurture early curiosity and confidence among children.

At the same time, the Expo will maintain a strong family-friendly atmosphere, with activities including baby races, children’s fashion shows, mascots, bumper cars and dedicated play zones, ensuring children remain at the centre of the experience.

Partners involved in the event say the Expo is not just about providing information, but about influencing behaviour.

Rhoda Musiima, Founder of Phos Creatives, noted that the goal is to move parents beyond awareness.

“Real impact comes when people act on what they know. This Expo is structured to help parents translate information into everyday decisions that benefit their children,” she said.

For participating brands, the event also offers an opportunity to bridge the gap between information and access, allowing families to directly engage with products and services designed to support child development.

Media personality Manuela Mulondo highlighted the emotional realities many parents face, noting that uncertainty is more common than often acknowledged.

“Many parents feel like they are constantly catching up. What spaces like this do is remind them that preparation is possible and support is available,” she said.

Organisers say the broader goal is to contribute to a cultural shift in parenting—one that places greater value on early action rather than late response.

With activities such as creative workshops, hands-on sessions, and continuous engagement through games, prize giveaways and treasure hunts, the expo is expected to attract a wide range of families seeking both guidance and experience.

As parenting dynamics continue to evolve across the region, the Baby & Kids Expo East Africa 2026 positions itself as more than an event, but a platform encouraging families to take a more intentional approach to raising children.

“This is about changing how we care because the best outcomes for children begin long before challenges arise," organisers said.
