Museveni Warns Officials Against Selling Govt Jobs

President Museveni has warned government officials against selling public service jobs and misusing funds meant for national development programmes, saying those found culpable will face strict punishment in his forthcoming term.

The President made the remarks during a celebration dubbed “Yoga Yoga Jajja” held at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala to commemorate his victory in the recently concluded presidential elections.

Organised by the State House Local Content Unit, the event attracted thousands of supporters who gathered under the scorching sun and were entertained by musical performances as they waited for the President’s arrival.

Museveni later arrived at the venue accompanied by a large convoy of boda boda riders and was welcomed with loud cheers from the crowd. He walked into the venue hand in hand with the First Lady, Janet Museveni.

The event began with congratulatory messages from several grassroots leaders and beneficiaries of programmes supported by the State House Local Content Unit.

Speakers commended the President for championing initiatives aimed at boosting household incomes and supporting local enterprises.

In his address, Museveni praised the organisers for promoting local businesses and empowering communities through economic initiatives. He said government prosperity programmes such as the Parish Development Model will be implemented with stricter oversight in the next term to ensure that funds reach the intended beneficiaries.

The President warned that any officials found misusing money meant for such programmes would be held accountable.

Museveni also expressed concern over reports that some officials are allegedly selling local government jobs, describing the practice as corruption that undermines public service delivery.

He vowed that the government would intensify the fight against corruption and ensure those involved face severe punishment.

Among the leaders who attended the celebration were Vice President Jessica Alupo and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa, alongside Members of Parliament, religious leaders, and other government officials.

The “Yoga Yoga Jajja” celebration formed part of activities organised to thank supporters and highlight the government’s commitment to economic empowerment and service delivery in the new term.
