VIDEO: MP Kato Lubwama slaps music promoter during TV talk show over speaking English

What started as a talk show to debate and share ideas on the music industry and the plight of music promoters, turned into a boxing arena after Lubaga South legislator and artiste, Kato Lubwama lost his cool and jabbed a fellow panelist.
Kato
Lubwama was invited as a panelist for the Friday Koona music show on spark TV, together
with a one Andrew Bajjo, a music promoter. The two started by responding to
different questions from the show host, Miles Rwamiti.
However,
midway through the talk show, an altercation ensued between the two after Bajjo
accused Kato Lubwama of being unfit to be a member of parliament.
According
to Bajjo, Lubwama has no merit to be a representative of any constituency in
parliament for he does not even know English. Bajjo also accused Lubwama of
failure to root for his fellow artiste and singer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu
alias Bobi Wine who has been facing a torrid time with the establishment and
banned from staging concerts.
“Yesterday
we spent the entire day in parliament as promoters, the people there are bright
and know English, Kato (Lubwama) can’t match them, what legislation can he do
when can’t even speak English?” Bajjo remarked.
Lubwama
still maintaining his cool, proposed that the show be hosted in English going
forward.
“Let us
debate in English, I don’t want us to proceed with mad people on the show, let
us change the program to English,” Kato pleaded with the host.
Bajjo
then accused Lubwama of remaining silent while the government rinsed Bobi Wine
and barred him from concerts. According to Bajjo, if legislators like Joseph Ssewungu
who are not even artistes continued to root for Bobi Wine, it was wrong for
Kato Lubwama to remain silent.
“There
is nothing you are doing in parliament…..” Bajjo continued.
Alas,
Lubwama could not wait, swinging his left hand and slapping Bajjo before
kicking the table and standing up to complete his assault.
Lubwama
then threw a few more punches, before the show host reigned in to calm the
situation. However, the show did not continue as Kato later marched out in
protest.
When
Nile Post contacted the show host, he confirmed the incidence.
“Yes,
the fight was real fire,” Rwamiti told Nile Post.
On whether the talk show continued with Lubwama, Rwamiti said; “No, they didn’t even talk after that.”
