Fuso Truck Overturns in Kisoro, Kills One and Injures Two

Territorial police in Kisoro District have registered a fatal road crash that claimed one life and left two people injured.

The accident occurred on February 14, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m. at Kagoma Village along the Kyanakye–Mukaka Road in Kanaba Sub-county, Kisoro District. It involved a white Fuso Fighter truck, registration number UAW 876C.

The deceased has been identified as Martin Akansiima Martin, 28, a casual labourer and resident of Kyogo Village in Kamwezi Sub-county, Rukiga District.

According to Kigezi Sub-region police spokesperson Elly Maate, preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was transporting onions from Kagoma Village to Kyanakye when the driver lost control after encountering a slippery section of the road during rainfall.

The truck subsequently overturned into a valley at Kagoma Village.

Maate said the deceased, who was seated in the co-driver’s seat, died instantly, while the driver and another passenger sustained injuries.

Traffic police officers visited and documented the scene, and the injured victims were rushed to Mutolere Hospital for treatment.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Investigations into the exact cause of the crash are ongoing.
