The Uganda Railways Corporation announced on December 17, 2025, that passenger train services on the Kampala–Mukono line will remain suspended until the evening of Tuesday, December 23, citing “public demand” for the extension.

Normal services are scheduled to resume on Monday, January 5, 2026.

“This is the festive period when most public utilities offer additional services or special benefits to their clients, yet commuters on this line will face disruption instead of convenience,” a commuter in Kampala commented.

The Managing Director of Uganda Railways Corporation reminded travelers to plan their journeys around the break, while also extending holiday greetings to the public.

Passengers are advised that no trains will run on the Kampala–Mukono route from the evening of December 17 until the evening of December 23, and regular services will restart on January 5, 2026, leaving many to rely on alternative and often costly transport options during the festive season.
