Uganda’s Judiciary spokesperson, Ereemye Mawanda, has praised the judicial reform proposals put forward by Kampala Central MP aspirant Abraham Luzzi.
The two interacted briefly at CBS 89.2 FM, where they held an eight-minute conversation that Mawanda described as insightful and impactful.
During the exchange, he commended Luzzi’s ideas for strengthening the justice system and publicly expressed support for the reforms he outlined.
This endorsement has significantly boosted Abraham Luzzi’s political visibility, placing him at an estimated 70 percent ahead of other aspirants for the Kampala Central MP seat.
Mawanda confirmed that Luzzi has also been invited to the Second National Court Opening Day, which is scheduled for 15 December, where major discussions on the future of Uganda’s judiciary will be held.
In their conversation, Mawanda applauded Luzzi for presenting strong, clear reform ideas. He recommended that the Judicial Service Commission increase the number of judges to manage the rising volume of cases.
He further proposed that judges should work in shifts, similar to systems used in parts of Europe and other developed countries, in order to expedite case resolution and ease the existing backlog.
Mawanda revealed that he was the first judicial officer to watch Luzzi’s widely circulated video on judicial reforms. He said the message was compelling and that he shared it with other members of the judiciary.
Luzzi has since begun engaging closely with judicial authorities as part of his broader efforts to champion legal and institutional reforms in Uganda.
