The service also marked a transition for two senior clergy members—Rev. Joel Franklin Ssembuusi and Rev. Anthony Kabuura—who were officially relieved of their diocesan responsibilities.

Presiding over the service, Bishop Enos Kitto Kagodo used the occasion to urge Christians to elect leaders based on competence and integrity rather than political affiliation or personal interest as the general elections draw near.

He emphasized that the Church and the nation can only thrive when leaders with a genuine heart for service are entrusted with responsibility.

Bishop Kagodo also extended heartfelt appreciation to the Diocesan Secretary, Rev. John Musoke, and all those who played a role in organizing the day’s successful events.

He praised Christians for their unwavering support and financial contributions, particularly toward the ongoing construction of the cathedral.

The bishop further encouraged parents and guardians to bring their children to the diocesan youth conference beginning today, Monday, noting that nurturing young believers is essential for building a strong and morally grounded future generation.

The Archdeacon of Mpumu, Venerable Christopher Kezaala, served as the day’s main preacher. Preaching from Joshua 17:14–18 under the theme “Go and Clear the Forests,” he reminded the congregation that every individual is endowed with God-given potential.

However, achieving that potential requires courage, perseverance, and readiness to confront spiritual and personal battles.

Venerable Kezaala commissioned the newly ordained deacons to “clear the forests” in their respective mission fields by working diligently to advance the Kingdom of God.

He encouraged them to remain anchored in Jesus Christ, who alone can empower them and clothe them in righteousness. He also urged Christians to view their challenges as small, affirming that God is powerful enough to overcome every obstacle.

Speaking on behalf of the newly ordained, Rev. Deacon Joseph Kivumbi expressed gratitude for the thorough preparation they had received and affirmed their readiness to serve faithfully in the ministry of God.

The service was marked by jubilation, prayer, and a renewed commitment to ministry as the Diocese of Mukono celebrated this significant milestone in its mission and leadership development.
