Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) parliamentary aspirant for Arua City Central Division, Kassiano Wadri, has unveiled a comprehensive, community-focused agenda aimed at tackling youth unemployment, improving education, and enhancing healthcare in West Nile.
Speaking during the Arua City Central Division Parliamentary Debate hosted by NBS Television, Wadri highlighted that West Nile remains the country’s second poorest region, with 78% of its population comprising youth facing limited employment opportunities.
“The biggest problem of this age bracket is unemployment. In Arua, we have graduates riding boda bodas,” he said.
While avoiding unrealistic promises of immediate jobs, Wadri pledged to expand vocational skills training and decentralize skilling centers to make opportunities accessible to all youth. He cited his track record in youth empowerment, noting he was among the first to start vocational training initiatives in Arua.
On political governance, Wadri condemned political violence and the practice of ferrying supporters, calling for responsible leadership.
He also stressed Uganda’s obligations under the Abuja Declaration to increase investment in healthcare and highlighted the urgent need to restore the prestige of teaching and local schools in West Nile.
Wadri will contest the seat against incumbent Jackson Atima (NRM), Jackson Obindu (NUP), Muzaid Khemis (FDC), and independent candidates Debo Ronald and Haddad Salim, as Arua emerges as a key battleground in the lead-up to the 2026 general election.
