Omutima Head Presents Newly Constituted Clan Council to Katikkiro
The Omutima (Heart) Clan has become the first to formally present its newly constituted clan council to the Katikkiro, fulfilling a royal directive issued by Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II to streamline leadership structures across all clans in Buganda.

The Head of the Omutima Clan, Omutaka Nicholas Namugera Kakeeto Kasekende, on Wednesday led a delegation of clan members to Bulange, Mengo, where they formally presented their reconstituted Clan Council to the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga.

The visit follows a message issued by the Kabaka on September 18 instructing Senior Heads of Clans to reorganize leadership structures, elect clan Katikkiros, and present these new councils at Mengo for recognition.

The Omutima Clan is the first to fulfill the Kabaka’s directive.

Speaking at the meeting, Omutaka Namugera said the visit symbolised the clan’s respect for the Ssaabataka and its commitment to implementing the Kabaka’s guidance.

“On the 18th of September, 2025, the Ssabataka personally signed and sent a letter outlining critical matters intended to streamline clan leadership,” Namugera said.

"One key element was the reorganization of leadership within the clans, and he directed that the newly constituted clan councils be officially presented at Mengo. Our presence here today is to implement the Kabaka’s directive."

He formally introduced the new Omutima Clan Council and urged the leaders to prioritise development, protection of clan land in Mutundwe, and transparent management of clan resources.

In his remarks, Katikkiro Mayiga — who has been appointed Chief Adviser to the Omutima Clan Council — thanked Namugera for the honour and pledged to serve with dedication.

“I am deeply grateful for this trust. I will serve with integrity and offer guidance whenever required, with honesty and sincerity,” the Katikkiro said.

He emphasised the centrality of clans in Buganda’s social organisation and the Kingdom’s long-standing cultural structure.

“A person who rejects responsibility is better than one who accepts it but fails to act. Since we have accepted this responsibility, let us use our creativity, dedication, integrity, and service to elevate our clan,” he added.

The newly constituted Omutima Clan Council comprises:

  • Frederick Mujjuzi Kiseke – Clan Prime Minister
  • Andrew Kaggwa – Deputy Prime Minister (Ssaalongo)
  • Eng. Ronald Bbaale Mugerwa Bwanika – Deputy Katikkiro for Buddu
  • Carles Peter Mayiga – Chief Adviser
  • Makeera Salim – Deputy Chief Adviser
  • Mulagwe Damus and Luberenga JohnMary – Advisers
  • Ssenkasi Robert – Secretary
  • Kirangwa Frank – Treasurer

All leaders received official instruments confirming their appointments.

The Katikkiro was accompanied by the Minister of Information, Mobilisation and Kingdom Spokesperson, Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, representing the Minister of Heritage, Palaces, Tombs, Tourism and Security, Anthony Wamala.

Omutaka Julius Kasekende attended the event with his wife Jesca Kasekende, their daughter Eunice Nakuya, and several clan leaders and members.
