Tayebwa Highlights Govt Investments as Museveni Opens Bushenyi Campaign Tour

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa on Tuesday used the launch of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s campaign in Greater Bushenyi to spotlight government spending on local development, arguing that the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has delivered measurable gains in the district.

Speaking at a rally at Kizinda Playground, Tayebwa said government programmes have started to make visible improvements in household income, infrastructure and access to essential services.

He noted that the Parish Development Model (PDM) has reached 22,349 households in Bushenyi, with more than Shs25.9 billion disbursed to beneficiaries, while Emyooga SACCOs have received Shs2.4 billion to support small-scale enterprises.

Infrastructure and public service investments, Tayebwa said, include newly established seed secondary schools, upgraded health facilities and expanded water supply systems.

The district has also benefited from new irrigation sites, gravity-flow schemes and ongoing construction of piped water systems intended to address outstanding service gaps.

Tayebwa added that 15 of Bushenyi’s 17 sub-counties now have electricity, with planned extensions to Kyamuhunga and Bitooma.

He argued that maintaining NRM leadership would ensure continuity of these initiatives.

President Museveni’s rally marked the start of his campaign engagement in the region, which has historically been a stronghold for the ruling party.
