The President of the Revolutionary Peasants Party (RPP) and Leader of the Uganda Federal Democratic Organization (UFDO), Bulira Frank Kabinga, has issued a bold declaration of confidence ahead of Uganda’s upcoming national elections, telling citizens to expect a “gigantic surprise” at the polls.
Speaking during Sanyuka Morning Xpress on Friday, Kabinga, who took over UFDO leadership following the death of Aggrey Kiyingi in 2023, his predecessor and mentor in exile outlined his vision for Uganda’s future and reiterated his commitment to transforming the nation’s political landscape.
“I’m seeking votes to bring real change to Uganda, to challenge the current leadership and reform the decentralisation system,” he said, emphasising the urgency of structural reform and a fresh approach to governance.
Kabojja noted that while he is transparent about his mission, not all campaign strategies will be made public.
“In politics, you don’t reveal all your strategies at once,” he said, adding that strategic discretion is essential in a competitive political environment.
A seasoned political consultant, Kabinga highlighted his professional background, which includes high-profile advisory roles across Africa.
“I was involved in the successful campaign of the current President of Malawi, and I've contributed to leadership change in other nations. Serious Ugandans know my track record. As I have always said, Frank Bulira will surprise many, and I will be at the top when this election ends,” he said.
Kabinga expressed confidence that he will secure 53% of the national vote, asserting that the majority of Ugandans are ready for new leadership. He also confirmed that his official manifesto will be launched next week, marking what he calls “the true beginning” of the campaign season.
“Ugandans will be surprised when I emerge as the next President of Uganda,” he said.
Despite his confidence, the RPP leader acknowledged challenges affecting his campaign.
“My accounts have been frozen, and it’s now becoming a major obstacle to my campaign activities,” he said, calling the development a hindrance to his nationwide mobilization efforts.
Kabinga also paid tribute to prominent opposition figures.
“If Dr. Besigye and the late Dr. Kiyingi were contesting in this election, I wouldn’t have stood. They are the only people I believe could genuinely bring change in leadership,” he said.
Central to Kabinga’s campaign is his unwavering commitment to federalism. He has often argued that Uganda’s greatest challenge is its system of governance, not just leadership.
Kabinga adds his name to the 2026 presidential ballot paper amid a highly competitive opposition force that is not limited to Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Gen. Mugisha Muntu of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), Nathan Nandala Mafabi of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Elton Joseph Mabirizi of the Conservative Party (CP), Mubarak Munyagwa Sserunga of the Common Man’s Party (CMP), and Robert Kasibante of the National Peasants Party (NPP).
All are seeking to retire incumbent President Yoweri Museveni of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), who has been in power since 1986.
