Police have opened a homicide investigation into the death of Michael Drabuga, a 50-year-old South Sudanese national whose body was found on November 24 at about 7am along the Adjumani–Moyo Road.
Drabuga, a resident of Rassia West Village in Marindi Parish, Pachara, is believed to have left his home at around 10pm the previous night, reportedly headed to a nearby bar.
He did not return, and his body was discovered the next morning by residents, who notified local leaders.
A homicide team visited the scene and later transferred the body to Adjumani General Hospital for examination.
A postmortem revealed multiple injuries, including a broken rib, consistent with an assault.
“The postmortem examination revealed evidence of assault, indicating that this was a murder,” SP Asea Collins, the North West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, told journalists.
He said investigators are pursuing leads to establish the motive and identify the attackers.
“We have opened investigations to identify and apprehend the suspect or suspects responsible. Inquiries are still ongoing, and we urge the public to volunteer any useful information,” SP Asea Collins added.
The body has since been handed over to the family for burial arrangements.
Police are urging residents of Marindi Parish and the wider Adjumani community to remain calm and assist investigators as efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice continue.
