Police in Kampala are investigating a Saturday morning fire that gutted four rooms in Kasato Zone, Kisenyi Parish, destroying electronics and hardware materials worth millions of shillings as officers work to establish how the blaze started.

Police in Kampala are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out on Saturday morning and destroyed property worth millions of shillings in Kasato Zone, Kisenyi Parish, Kampala Central Division.

According to police, preliminary findings indicate that the incident occurred on November 22, 2025, at around 9am when a blaze erupted inside stores belonging to Ssekale Shafic.

The fire is believed to have started in the inner section of the electronics store before quickly spreading to the hardware section.

Police said the affected premises comprised four rooms, three of which stored assorted electronics, while the fourth contained hardware materials. All were extensively damaged in the inferno.

“Our fire and rescue services responded promptly after being notified and managed to put out the fire before it spread to nearby structures,” said SP Racheal Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson.

Investigators have also established that the stores were located next to a washing bay equipped with CCTV cameras.

However, the cameras were destroyed in the fire, eliminating potential visual footage that could have aided the probe into how the blaze started.

Kawala noted that efforts to ascertain the exact cause of the fire are still underway.
