South Korea to enhance UCC's capacity to manage radio spectrum

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) on Tuesday hosted officials from the Central Management Service (CRMS) of South Korea at the UCC head offices in Bugolobi.

According to a statement from UCC, the two parties undertook a partnership in March 2018, to enhance the commission's capacity to manage radio spectrum in the country.

"The Korean Central Radio Management Service committed to providing UCC with a system to enhance the regulators capability to monitor usage of spectrum, and improve compliance by spectrum licensees," read part of the statement.

On its part, UCC undertook to clear, transport and ensure installation of the system, and all the necessary provisions to ensure proper functioning of the system.

The new system is expected to bridge vast coverage gaps associated with UCC’s regional offices in Mbale and Masindi, as the commissions’ current systems do not cover these areas.
