COSASE: Bagyenda's body guard dares MPs, survives coolers

Juliet Adikot, the bodyguard to Justine Bagyenda, the former executive director Bank of Uganda in charge of supervision was today nearly locked up by legislators after she rudely refused to adhere to instructions.

Adikot had been summoned before the Committee on Statutory Authority and State Enterprises (COSASE) to clarify reports that she had aided her boss to smuggle three bags containing vital documents out of Bank of Uganda on March 13.

Drama started when committee chairperson Abdu Katuntu and other members wanted to interrogate Bagyenda's alleged conspirators: Kyambadde Beatrice, Charles Omollo, Julliet Adikot, and a one Job.

While the three others respected the summons and had settled before the committee minutes before it started Adikot was no where to be seen.

Katuntu instructed the parliamentary police find her and bring her to the committee.

Once in the committee, Adikot decline to take oath before testifying, leading to a heated verbal exchange.

She said: "Chairperson, I am not supposed to appear before any committee or court without the permission of my IGP and I will not take the oath".

Katuntu replied: "Whether you like it or not, you must appear before this committee and you must take the oath now".

She answered: " I can't take Oath when Bagyenda is not here".

Katuntu shot back: " You are wasting our time. Take the oath".

She said:"Allow me to say something before I take the oath".

Katuntu responded: "You will say it after taking the oath.

In the end, Adikot relented and took the oath but after she had been threatened with arrest for contempt of parliament.
