The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, has called on stakeholders to uphold children’s rights and foster their innovation during the World Children’s Day 2025 celebrations at Kololo Secondary School in Kampala.
Organized by UNICEF in partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development and the Ministry of Education and Sports, the event brought together children, educators, partners, and policymakers from across Uganda.
“In his speech, the Kyabazinga affirmed the rights of children and encouraged them to speak out and innovate, reminding them that they matter,” eyewitnesses said.
The celebrations coincided with the climax of innovation competitions, showcasing young talents from major regions of Uganda.
“We must continue to prioritize children’s welfare and create an environment where they can thrive,” the Kyabazinga urged, earning applause from an audience that included diplomats, teachers, parents, and learners.
The event also commemorated the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which Uganda signed in 1990, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to protecting and empowering its young citizens.
