Hoima District Local Government has launched construction of the Bujwaha-Nyamirima-Kakindo road, a project designed to enhance transport and local trade connectivity between Hoima city and the district’s surrounding areas.
The works are budgeted at Shs80 million.
The launch took place Wednesday afternoon at Nyamirima Primary School, officiated by Hoima Assistant Resident District Commissioner Shafih Ntuyo, alongside District Chairman Uthumani Mugisha Kadiri, local leaders, technical staff, and community members.
Vincent Irumba, the works supervisor, said the eight-kilometre road will undergo bush clearing, grading, shaping, spot graveling, drainage construction—including opening offshoots—as well as removal of rock outcrops and deep gullies, among other technical improvements.
While launching the project, Assistant RDC Ntuyo praised Hoima district leadership for working to improve the lives of local residents, particularly farmers and traders who will use the road to transport agricultural produce and merchandise to markets.
He urged the community to continue supporting the NRM government, which he said is committed to promoting welfare through service delivery.
District Chairman Uthumani Mugisha commended residents of Kyabigambire for their patience and cooperation.
“The district has been able to deliver on its mandate regarding road works, and we remain committed to using available resources to ensure all roads are developed as budgeted,” he said.
The Chief Administrative Officer, represented by Senior Assistant Secretary Brian Atugonza, encouraged residents to engage in agriculture and support government initiatives like the Parish Development Model to fully benefit from infrastructure improvements.
Kyabigambire District Councilor Hillary Tumusiime, also secretary for social services, urged residents to support district leadership and President Museveni, noting their commitment to addressing local challenges.
Area LCI Chairman Kirungi Johnson said the community has long raised concerns about the poor condition of the road, which has negatively affected production and trade.
