Housing Finance Bank has expanded its footprint with the opening of a new branch in Nansana, strengthening its strategy to bring affordable and accessible financial services closer to rapidly growing urban communities.

The branch becomes the bank’s 21st nationwide and will offer mortgages, personal and business banking, savings, and digital services.

He outlined three priorities guiding the bank’s growth: expanding financial inclusion, supporting sustainable enterprises, and upholding strong governance.

Over the past year, Housing Finance Bank has financed 1,400 women and youth-led businesses worth Shs121.8 billion, supported 65 green projects valued at Shs22 billion, and invested in 61 renewable energy initiatives.

Nansana Town Clerk Festo Tandeka said the bank’s entry will serve the needs of a fast-growing population by offering “accessible and meaningful” financial solutions, while customer Kizito Havior Ssempiira of the Center for Special Abilities said the investment would spur community and business growth.

Representing the Bank of Uganda, Bosco Bayinamazima said Nansana’s rapid expansion makes it a strategic location, adding that Housing Finance Bank’s stability puts it in a strong position to serve diverse customer needs in the municipality.

As part of the launch, the bank planted 300 trees at Church of Uganda Kazo Primary School under its Tiny Forest Initiative to promote environmental conservation. Mugabi said the activity reflects the bank’s broader sustainability agenda, which includes supporting green housing, renewable energy and water access programs.

Housing Finance Bank said the new branch, coupled with its environmental initiative, reinforces its long-term vision of supporting both community development and climate resilience.
