The Intelligent Transport Monitoring System (ITMS) has provided Joe Walker's 60km relay with a boost of 10 million shillings.

According to ITMS, the funds will support accident victims in Mulago Hospital's casualty ward. The Joe Walker campaign aims to honour lives lost on Uganda’s roads and to rally the country towards safer, smarter mobility. The 60km distance also signifies both remembrance and determination — bridging the gap between preventable road tragedies and a future driven by accountability and innovation.

“Every day, Uganda loses an average of 14 lives to road crashes, with economic repercussions exceeding UGX 4.4 trillion annually,” said Devota Ingabire , an IT Officer for ITMS Uganda.

“At ITMS, we are committed to transforming these statistics into stories of prevention through advanced technology and bring responsible driving. The Joe Walker Remembrance Relay aligns perfectly with our mission: to foster a mindset shift from reaction to proactive protection.”

The Joe Walker 60KM Remembrance Relay has challenged all Ugandans — individuals, families, institutions, and organisations  to join in walking for those who can no longer take a step, and marching together toward a future of secure, intelligent, and sustainable road
