Independent Member of Parliament aspirant for Nansana Municipality, Mutebi Ramathan (IND), has called attention to critical infrastructure and public service gaps in the municipality.
Speaking during Nansana Municipality Parliamentary debate hosted by NBS Television on Sunday, Mutebi raised concerns over the lack of access to safe and clean water in Nansana, a challenge affecting thousands of residents.
"It’s sad that in Nansana, people are still drinking water from wells. The Minister in charge of Water should be held accountable. How is it that the entire Nansana Municipality still lacks access to piped water?,” he said.
Mutebi further emphasised the need for improved healthcare infrastructure, arguing that Nansana’s population size warrants a referral hospital to adequately serve its residents.
In a broader discussion on education and global competitiveness, the independent aspirant also commented on the role of language in development.
"They asked me for English, but today one of the great nations in the world is China, and everything they do is in their mother tongues,” he said, underscoring the importance of local languages in fostering innovation, cultural identity, and effective governance.
Mutebi is set to face off with former NBS Amasengejje Anchor Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa of the National Unity Platfrom (NUP), Harold Kaija of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), Musoke Hamis Walusimbi of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Ida Buggaga Matovu of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Henry Lubowa of the Democratic Front (DF) and independent candidates Kayaga Juliet and Kintu Florence; all of whom are seeking to unseat outgoing MP Nsereko Musoke Wakayima who has represented the constituency since 2016.
With just months to the elections, the Nansana Municipality parliamentary seat is poised to become one of the most closely watched contests of the 2026 polls.
