Nansana Municipality Member of Parliament aspirant Henry Lubowa, contesting on the Democratic Front (DF) ticket, has pledged to spearhead legislative reforms that will ensure peaceful transitions of power in Uganda.
Speaking during the Nansana Municipality Parliamentary Debate hosted by NBS Television on Sunday, Lubowa promised to bring transparency, accountability, and proactive legislative advocacy to Parliament if elected.
“I am from the Democratic Front, a party that believes in attaining power through democratic means. Uganda’s major challenge today is achieving a peaceful transition of leadership. The 11th Parliament has failed to enact laws that support a smooth and peaceful transfer of power. That is one of the key issues I intend to champion once in Parliament,” he said.
Beyond national governance priorities, Lubowa—who also serves as the party’s Electoral Commission Chairperson and Secretary General—highlighted the rapid growth of Nansana Municipality. He noted that the town has already surpassed the population threshold required for city status.
“To qualify for city status, a locality needs at least 35,000 people, and yet Nansana has over 70,000 residents,” Lubowa remarked, emphasizing the need for improved infrastructure, urban planning, and increased investment to meet the demands of the expanding population.
Lubowa is set to face stiff competition from Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa (NUP), Harold Kaija (PFF), Musoke Hamis Walusimbi (FDC), Ida Buggaga Matovu (NRM), and independent candidates Florence Kintu, Mutebi Ramathan, and Kayaga Juliet. All are vying to replace outgoing MP Nsereko Musoke Wakayima, who has represented the constituency since 2016.
With only months left to the 2026 general elections, the Nansana Municipality parliamentary race is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched contests in the country.
