The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, on Thursday evening joined family, friends, and the Buganda community in mourning the sudden passing of Emily Caroline Nambi Musoke, daughter of his elder brother, the late Flugensio Musoke.
Musoke succumbed to cancer-related illnesses in London, United Kingdom, on September 30, 2025, at the age of 57.
During a vigil ceremony at the home of her paternal aunt, Jane Mukasa Sserunjogi, in Kyaliwajjala, Kimbejja, Mayiga expressed profound grief over the loss of his beloved niece and reflected on her visit to Uganda in January.
“Living long is not as important, but what we accomplish during the time God gives us on earth is most important. Emily brought joy to everyone around her. We thank God for the happiness she shared, and we are grateful for having had the chance to experience it,” Mayiga said.
He also encouraged the deceased’s children to take time to mourn, but afterward to stay strong and recognize that death is a natural part of life.
According to the official program, Emily Musoke will be laid to rest at Kyamuyimbwa, Kabonera, Masaka, in Buddu, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, beginning with a mass at 12:00 midday.
